What is Creatine Monohydrate?
Creatine monohydrate is one of the most extensively studied and commonly used supplements in sport today. Creatine monohydrate can help improve athletic performance by replenishing ATP (adenosine triphosphate) which is the body's preferred energy source when completing an action that requires strength, speed or power. Additionally, creatine monohydrate assists in the hydration of muscle tissue to help maximise pump during resistance training, while also encouraging lean muscle growth and improved recovery through enhanced nutrient delivery to the muscles.


Do I Need To Load Total Science Creatine Monohydrate?
When using creatine monohydrate it is often recommended to start with a 'loading phase' to increase creatine uptake and storage as quickly as possible. Studies have shown that by supplementing four (4) 5g doses of creatine monohydrate along with 20g of glucose per dose for the first 5-6 days can increase total creatine levels by up to 27% while the same dosage without the added glucose only resulted in an increase of up to 17%. At an even lower dosage the total increase in creatine levels was found to be even smaller. This is why for BEST results it is always recommended to start with a loading phase with any creatine supplementation.


How to Use Total Science Creatine Monohydrate

LOADING PHASE: FIRST 6 DAYS
Four (4) 5g doses of creatine monohydrate per day consumed with a simple glucose (carbohydrate) source like M&M Fitness Carbohydrate Blend.

Example Loading Structure:

UPON WAKING: 5g mixed with 20g Carbohydrate Blend.
PRE-WORKOUT: 5g mixed with 20-40g Carbohydrate Blend.
POST WORKOUT: 5g consume BEFORE Post-Workout Protein Shake.
BEFORE BED: 5g mixed with 20g Carbohydrate Blend.

(You can mix your creatine and carbohydrate blend in any pre-workout supplement.)

MAINTENANCE PHASE: 4-6 WEEKS

Creatine And Caffeine:
Consuming large amounts of caffeine (more than 5mg per kg body weight) may cancel out any performance and hydration benefits of creatine. For this reason it is highly recommended to minimise caffeine intake to a maximum of 200mg per day (1-2 coffees) or a moderate strength pre-workout supplement.
