What is L-Glutamine?
L-Glutamine is an amino acid used by sports people to aid them in achieving their nutritional and performance goals. L-Glutamine is one of the most valuable amino acids to supplement with. L-Glutamine stores are largely depleted due to extreme exercise so it is often supplemented in the diet when partaking in intensive training or physical exercise. The body is capable of manufacturing L-Glutamine on its own, but in most cases can never manufacture enough to fill the daily needs of sports people, therefore protein rich foods and L-Glutamine supplementation should be included in a nutritional diet.

What does L-Glutamine do?
L-Glutamine plays a key role in protein synthesis. With any type of training or physical stress, Glutamine in the body is easily exhausted as your body starts to break down amino acids in your muscle tissue by a process called catabolism. Supplementation with L-Glutamine helps to combat these negative effects, instead helping you to minimise muscle breakdown, improve protein metabolism, increase strength, increase stamina and improve recovery. L-Glutamine can also assist in preventing muscle wastage as when needed it can be broken down by the liver to produce glucose. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in your muscles - in fact approx. 61% of skeletal muscle is Glutamine.

L Glutamine is not a sole source of nutrition and should be consumed in conjunction with a nutritious diet and appropriate fluid intake. L Glutamine can be added to your protein shakes or mixed with juice or water. Consult a health care professional before starting in any new supplementation, training or exercise program.

Serving Suggestions:
L-Glutamine is best used before or directly after training. A dose of 5g is standard (for maximum benefits, expert nutritionists recommend consuming 5 grams, 1 to 3 times daily; once in the morning, pre and post-workout and before bed). L-Glutamine is easily mixed with water, juice and other supplements.

ATP Science is a 100% Australian owned company.
